Our project is about a creative community that captures the essence of Wallabout. Our project is composed of three nodes with a central circulation network that weaves through intermediary program.
Artist Statement
The first node is located south of Flushing, in the residential and commercial blocks. This node focuses on collaboration and education by melding an interaction between public and private space, housing and communal space. The second node is called the Epicenter. This area’s main program is the science park and production factory. This area focuses on connection both to Wallabout and the neighboring Williamsburg area, infrastructural connections like the BQX and Citi bike. The third node is the waterfront production node. This area’s primary program is light industrial and commercial space.
Our central circulation network is a dual use public space and circulation component. At a smaller scale these intersection volumes form public space at the scale of terraces, or small market or vendor spaces, on a larger scale they become communal farmers markets, parks, and various forms of hard
The industrial production hub relates to the existing scenario where we reactivated the port.
