Kats is driven by a passion for future-oriented design with a focus on climate change and social justice. She is the first person to pursue dual master's degrees in Pratt Institute's MFA Interior Design and MS Sustainable Environmental Systems programs. Kats combines her aesthetic sense reflected in her studio arts bachelor's degree with a commitment to solving real-world problems through sustainable design. 

She was recently named one of Metropolis Magazine's Future100 Leaders in Architecture & Interior Design in North America. She led the first team from Pratt to win the annual HUD Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Competition. In May, she was selected to represent Pratt at the citywide NYCxDesign exhibition, and her work is displayed on 1,800 billboards across New York City. Her Master's thesis was profiled in the 2021 Dezeen Magazine Virtual Art Fair. She has presented a range of work and given multiple talks, including at the 2021 Interior Design Educator's Council Conference, INTTalks, the 2020 Civic Art Lab, and at the Noguchi Museum. She won the inaugural Sustainability Impact Award from Pratt Institute, as well as an Honorable Mention in the category of Sustainability in the 2020 Interior Design Awards for her work on the Bushwick Generator, a community-oriented maker-space in Brooklyn.
