The Bear
Yongtao Hu
The Bear is a three-minute stop-motion animation that visualizes the love of a mother for her daughter. Although the old lady's Alzheimer's disease is getting worse and
worse, she tries her best to remake a toy teddy bear for her daughter. Sometimes she forgets where the scissors she just put down, sometimes she forgets the look of her
daughter's favorite toy teddy bear, sometimes her index finger is punctured by a needle, but she bandages the wrong finger. The mother has forgotten everything but
not her daughter.

Everyone’s understanding of life is different, because it is based on their perception and experience of their whole lives. I always hope that I can express my
thoughts and experiences in different kinds of animations, so that a large number of viewers can feel my perceptions and experience. As I am a young animator, I am
fascinated by some films based on real stories with profound meaning, which will make me think about family, friendship and love. Most of people have ignored these
emotional ties, which are important things in a person's life. This is why I want to create the emotional animation: to tell people not to forget this.
Inspired by my grandmother’s Alzheimer’s disease, I try to convey the idea that old lady's Alzheimer's disease is getting worse and worse, she tries her best to remake a toy teddy bear for her daughter. Sometimes she forgets the look of her daughter's favorite toy teddy bear, sometimes her index finger is punctured by a needle, but she bandages the wrong finger. The mother has forgotten everything but not her daughter.
I believe that when more and more people start to pay attention to this disease and start to care for their parents and grandparents, this may be the real effective solution. So I hope everyone who sees my film can feel the same feeling with me and start to take action.
