The project proposes a connection from Governors Island to Red Hook, Brooklyn,
creating ecological uplift and building micro-climatic environments through the most
humble substance: soil. The project brings attention to paleosol, an overlooked and
often forgotten type of soil. Bringing attention to paleosol will educate people about the existence of paleosol and its importance in climate resiliency. A soft edge continuing in water from Governors Island in the form of Archipelagos to Brooklyn along the Buttermilk Channel transitioning into the hard edge of the city building a rippling connection. The archipelagos are built as such to create microclimates in each human-made island through layers of vegetation and tree plantation having their own ecological terrestrial environment.
These microclimates will not only create self-sufficient islands but also an ecological
approach toward inhabiting humans and plant species with the evolution of paleosols
beneath each island, to provide the best nutrient supply through soil to the ecological
species.

Artist Statement
I'm a recent graduate from Pratt with Masters degree in Architecture & Urban Design. Growing up has inspired me to take art as a passion hence building my interest in artistic designs, leading me to take Architecture & Urban Design as my major field of study. Apart from studies, I also enjoyed photography and travelling to historic monuments for aspiring myself more into the pre historic art and landscape
architecture. It influenced my obsession, passion, and occupation with architecture and the built environment.
I believe in my creativity including drawing, painting, installation, and researching ancient history with architecture. I believe that insight into the art is supported by a cross-disciplinary practice and I find that my work in one discipline will influence my work in another.
