Artist Statement
When one looks at and talks about a work of art, one is looking at and talking about oneself and one’s relationship to objects. In my artistic process I push, pull and play with the ambiguity of the meaning and function of myself and of objects. If I do this well, I can inspire the viewer to push, pull and play with the ambiguity of meaning and function of themselves and their relationship to objects using the powers of mystery. Here, art becomes an amorphous amalgam of subjectivities.
Whether or not the artworks and their content are capable of speaking for themselves, they certainly speak to each other -- but only in silence, through materiality and spirit, with an emphasis that something always remains hidden; surrounded by mystery.
