Artist Statement
Rural lands are declining.

Urbanization projects and industrial development are putting an end on agricultural lands, globally. In China, the speed of urbanization over the past three decades has unfortunately resulted in widespread inefficient land use. Overtime, urban expansion encroaches into more farm land, displacing farmers and reducing China's total arable land.

Ever since the industrial revolution and the rise of developing heavy infrastructure, China's total arable land area drop drastically and the transition of large amounts of carbon emissions into urban areas are incredibly high.

Because of the rising environmental and social conflict, the CULTIVATING INFRASTRUCTURE: FARM TO TOWER is the vehicle to cultivate traditional farming from the old town to the new town- as technology and certain methods are advancing.

Our project focuses on the transition from the OLD TOWN to the NEW TOWN by advocating the traditional farming methods into the form of industrial development.
