Jared Lynch
I am an interdisciplinary multimedia artist utilizing emerging technologies. I like to explore concepts ranging from all things like shamanism, near future fantasy, audio visualization, light, performance, and more. My experience with creating and performing music as a young child has shaped my approach to artmaking, in the sense that I have no problem creating things that are abstract and sometimes even abrasive. The thing which excites me most about art is a sense of immersive worldbuilding. I feel that with art one is able to create new perspectives, and new perspectives can lead to new realities, the unveiling of which may perhaps lead to a more holistic understanding of art, the world, existence, or practically anything for that matter.
Artist Statement
The work I do is informed by my everlasting quest for novelty and new perspectives on reality. My goal has always been to touch people in a positive and impactful way, creating novel experiences for me and the viewer to hopefully grow or learn from in some abstract or concrete way.
My work tends to be heavily stylized. It tends to have a dark, yet futuristic tone. There tends to be mostly dark elements with some shiny and plastic textures shining through. I enjoy the excess of imagined futures, the overflowing goop of information that we know may easily consume us. I try to make that excess shine through in the sensory-overload aspect of my work.
