As a Venezuelan-American artist, I have been exploring ideas around belonging, representation and identity politics through photography. My current works propose unresolved personal and cultural narratives that combine figurative subjects and poignant objects to draw attention to my own immigrant and queer identities, and to a fluid concept of home and place. Informed by my own family album, I’ve constructed a queer archive that mixes traditional approaches with contemporary materials and is presented as a site-specific installation to activate new meaning and inquiry.
