Colette Bernard
Colette Bernard was born and raised in Acadiana, the culturally rich region of south Louisiana. By combining a variety of both traditional and digital fabrication techniques, Bernard emphasizes merging the virtual and physical world. Bernard graduated in 2021 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a focus in Sculpture and Integrated Practices from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She also creates art related videos on TikTok, including segments such as "Artist of the Day", "Public Art Series", and "Art World Drama". Bernard gained a dedicated following from these videos, and has been featured in the New York Times and ArtNet News for her work.
Artist Statement
Inspired by the geometry of wild crawfish mounds found in her home state of Louisiana, Bernard replicates their shape via ceramic 3D printing. This duality of using technology to mimic an organic figure conjoins the virtual with the physical reality.
