Stefan Maier
Artist Statement
The collection is presented as clothing. letting people create the fashion that they want to.
The work shown is a visual portrait of how my German identity and Sexuality have changed throughout time. Looking at connotations of being gay and the underground “classics†of the german queer scene specifically in Berlin.
The summer was spent a-lot in a fellow designers' studio, sitting there by the big glass window every morning I would see the same people walk by. The studio was in the heart of a community-based retirement facility, so what I would see is this person in kitten heels and a small rectangle bag serving a look every day. Making him a huge inspiration to the collection.
